A Mirantis Case Study

Preview of the SaudiTelecom Case Study

Largest Middle East and North Africa Telecom Provider Builds Innovative Public OpenStack Cloud to Accommodate Expanding Market Demand

Saudi Telecom Company (STC), the largest telecom provider in the Middle East and North Africa, set out to launch a differentiated public cloud and a broad IaaS/PaaS/SaaS marketplace to support rapid ICT-driven growth and defend against global entrants. To succeed it needed carrier-grade availability, scalability, security and a cost structure that avoided vendor lock‑in while enabling rapid innovation.

STC selected OpenStack and partnered with Mirantis to design, deploy and support an OpenStack-based IaaS across multiple data centers and to onboard third‑party PaaS and SaaS partners. The deployment—now running on hundreds of servers with plans to scale to thousands—powers a marketplace of 30+ partners, delivers about 25% lower CAPEX/OPEX versus proprietary alternatives, sped internal adoption, and tapped fast community-driven innovation to meet rising customer demand.
