A Mirantis Case Study
A leading Japanese telecommunications company sought to expand its ICT business by offering cloud-native services to enterprise customers. Their challenge was to deploy a hybrid platform providing access to containers, VMs, and baremetal instances, while also moving away from a costly legacy VMware infrastructure. To address this, they engaged Mirantis to evaluate the capabilities of the Mirantis Cloud Platform (MCP) through a proof of concept (PoC).
Mirantis implemented a hybrid cloud solution integrating Kubernetes and OpenStack on the operator's existing hardware, which was connected using a vMX virtual router. Despite hardware compatibility challenges, Mirantis successfully deployed and tested the entire environment within the three-week deadline. The successful PoC demonstrated the platform's full functionality, greatly impressing the operator with Mirantis's expertise and the operational readiness of its automated management and monitoring tools. As a result, the operator is now preparing to deploy a production hybrid cloud to meet client demands.
