A European Global 500 bank with 300,000 employees and more than 100 million customers faced slow, complex Dev/Test operations: engineers waited days or weeks for environments, visibility and utilization were poor, and infrastructure churn drove costs. Leadership set an aggressive goal to replace legacy platforms with a flexible private cloud to speed product introduction, improve control, and avoid vendor lock-in.

The bank selected Mirantis to design and deploy an OpenStack-based private cloud (Fuel, Horizon, Murano) that supports bare metal and diverse virtualized platforms. The 160-node deployment now gives developers one-click self-service provisioning, cut provisioning times from about 20 days to under a day (hours), improved resource reuse and visibility, and enabled plans to expand into production and PaaS—boosting agility, scalability and lowering operating costs.
