A Mirantis Case Study
Cornell University faced the challenge of managing difficult-to-update infrastructure across its 14 colleges, which was impossible to move to a single platform or to the cloud. The university sought to accelerate its cloud migration and support its legacy applications more efficiently.
Mirantis implemented Docker Enterprise, which allowed Cornell to containerize its applications, including a legacy Confluence wiki. The solution drastically improved high availability and disaster recovery while reducing annual costs. Results included a 10x reduction in staff hours spent on support, a 13x faster application deployment speed, and the ability to run over 1,000 containers. This success led Cornell to adopt a container-first, cloud-first strategy.
