San Rafael Police Department speeds emergency response across 53 intersections with Miovision

The San Rafael Police Department faced significant traffic congestion challenges, particularly when incidents on the 101 Freeway caused gridlock on city streets, delaying emergency response times and posing public safety risks. To combat this, they partnered with Miovision Technologies to implement the Miovision Opticom Cloud Platform and its Emergency Vehicle Preemption (EVP) solution.

The solution utilized existing infrastructure to create a centralized communication platform that gives emergency vehicles a safer, faster path by turning traffic signals green in advance. This implementation by Miovision connected 56 police and fire vehicles across 53 intersections, resulting in faster emergency response times. The city also benefited from a cost-effective, as-a-service payment model that provided financial flexibility while achieving vital safety improvements.
