Escambia County reduces corridor delays by 1,200 vehicle hours a week with Miovision Technologies

Escambia County faced the challenge of traffic congestion on its arterial roads, with traditional signal retiming being a slow and infrequent process. To address this, they engaged Miovision Technologies. Using the Miovision TrafficLink system and its Automated Traffic Signal Performance Measures (ATSPMs), the project aimed to optimize traffic flow and reduce delays along the N. Palafox St. and N. W Street corridors.

The solution implemented by Miovision involved a comprehensive analysis and signal retiming, leading to significant improvements. The results quantified by Miovision's system showed an estimated weekly time savings of 1,200 vehicle hours, a fuel savings of approximately 3,400 gallons, and cumulative delay and fuel savings estimated at $7 million. This demonstrated how Miovision's data-driven approach provided major benefits in efficiency, cost, and environmental impact.
