Case Study: City of Quincy achieves safer crossings for vulnerable road users and $25K in savings with Miovision Technologies

A Miovision Technologies Case Study

Preview of the City of Quincy Case Study

Building a Future-proof Traffic System

Miovision partnered with the City of Quincy to address safety problems on Quincy Avenue, a three-mile, high-speed corridor carrying 25,000 vehicles per day where pedestrians and cyclists faced elevated risk. The city needed to reduce speeds, eliminate major conflict points and add safe crossing space, but faced public concern about lane reductions, travel-time impacts and limited funding.

Using existing Miovision TrafficLink deployments and analytic support, Quincy ran in-house historical and peak-hour traffic models to justify a lane reduction, add bike lanes and install a semi‑protected pedestrian crossing—without hiring outside consultants. The data-driven proposal saved the city roughly $25,000, sped implementation by weeks, reduced vehicle speeds, created safer space for vulnerable users and eliminated fatalities at the major conflict point with minimal impact on travel time.
