A Minitab Case Study
Northern Sydney Central Coast Health Service (NSCCHS), serving more than 1 million people across northern Sydney, needed a better way to standardize wound care across its eleven major facilities. Faced with significant variation in treatment practices and the risks of infection, delayed healing, and reduced quality of life, NSCCHS turned to Minitab Statistical Software to help evaluate whether patients were receiving safe, appropriate, and effective care.
Using Minitab, NSCCHS created control charts and analyzed wound care interventions before and after new guidelines were implemented. The vendor helped the health service monitor process variation, compare performance over time, and measure improvement: the proportion of leg ulcer interventions implemented rose from 26% before the project to 84% after it. Minitab also supported broader quality improvement efforts through NSCCHS’s STaMP program, helping the organization turn data into actionable insights.
