IUT de Cachan the Pathway to Jobs. Minitab the Pathway to Business

IUT de Cachan, a University Institute of Technology in France, trains students in Mechanical Engineering and Manufacturing and needs to make limited classroom time count while preparing graduates for jobs across both manufacturing and non-manufacturing sectors. The school worked with Minitab and its statistical software to help students learn practical data analysis and quality improvement skills relevant to a changing job market.

Using Minitab Statistical Software, Professor Pierre-André Gouge built exercises around statistical process control, reliability, capability analysis, Gage R&R, and Minitab’s Assistant to guide interpretation and data collection. The result was a more job-ready student body: students learned problem solving, variability reduction, and SPC through hands-on simulations and graphical outputs, with measurable understanding reinforced by tools like PPM exercises and capabilité analyses.
