Getting Trainees Up to Speed with Stats Cummins Trusts Quality Trainer

Cummins, a global manufacturer of diesel engines and related technology, uses Six Sigma to drive continuous improvement across its large and diverse organization. However, its training program faced a challenge: employees entered sessions with very different levels of statistical knowledge, making it difficult to teach everyone effectively. Cummins turned to Minitab’s Quality Trainer to help standardize that foundation.

Minitab’s Quality Trainer e-learning platform was implemented as a required pre-class resource for relevant Six Sigma modules, giving trainees a common starting point with basic statistics and Minitab techniques. The solution helped employees learn at their own pace, refreshed experienced users, and was described by Cummins as highly affordable; the company also secured an enterprise-wide license. Cummins reported that the program improved consistency in training and helped participants “speak the same language” across functions.
