Financial Service Company, a major U.S. bank, wanted to improve quality in its internal processes after preliminary analysis showed that errors in employees’ handling of collection data could be costing thousands of dollars. The bank turned to Minitab Statistical Software to support its Lean Six Sigma and continuous improvement efforts.

Using Minitab, a new Green Belt quickly imported and analyzed large amounts of process data, created easy-to-share graphs, built Pareto Charts to identify problem branches, and used Individual Value Plots to uncover outliers and sources of data entry and documentation errors. As a result, the bank significantly reduced collection data errors and saved millions of dollars each quarter, while the project also helped the Green Belt earn a promotion.
