The customer, Cathay General Hospital, faced the challenge of improving its door-to-balloon time for heart attack patients, a critical period affecting survival rates. The hospital sought to evaluate and re-engineer its diagnostic and treatment processes to meet the recommended 90-minute window, optimize efficiency, and reduce costs. To achieve this, they utilized Minitab Statistical Software.

Using Minitab, the hospital's team conducted a Gage R&R study, applied a Box-Cox transformation, and performed capability analysis to identify inefficiencies. Minitab's solution enabled them to implement specific process improvements. The results were significant: the average door-to-balloon time was reduced by 58.4% to 57.9 minutes, patient hospital stays decreased by three days, and the hospital saved $4.4 million in medical resources.
