Punjab National Bank - Customer Case Study

Punjab National Bank, one of India’s largest government-owned banks, needed stronger protection for its Swift and other SAML-based applications. Although the applications ran on a private network and used Active Directory credentials, the bank lacked a second authentication layer, leaving sensitive international transaction systems vulnerable to unauthorized access. PNB also required a reliable disaster recovery setup and daily backup capability.

miniOrange implemented an on-premise multi-factor authentication solution for PNB, integrating it with Active Directory and adding a second factor such as mobile token-based OTPs via Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator. miniOrange also built in disaster recovery support with primary and backup environments plus daily backups of user data and application configurations. The solution went live on December 31, 2021, achieved 100% adoption, protected more than 750 employees, and helped Punjab National Bank secure its network and simplify access to critical applications.
