Case Study: a global content leader rebuilds hyperscale observability with MinIO AIStor

A MinIO Case Study

Preview of the One of the World’s Largest Content Platforms Case Study

One of the world's largest content platforms rescues compute utilization from 3–4% with MinIO

The customer, one of the world's largest content platforms, faced serious scaling issues with its observability infrastructure as it ingested multiple terabytes of data daily. Their legacy architecture, which coupled storage and compute, led to plummeting compute utilization, soaring costs, and operational complexity. To modernize without disruption, they turned to vendor MinIO and its AIStor object storage software to rebuild their stack.

MinIO's solution involved deploying AIStor behind Splunk SmartStore, creating a disaggregated architecture that allowed storage and compute to scale independently. This eliminated metadata bottlenecks and delivered SSD-level performance on cost-effective HDDs. The results were significant: the platform achieved massive scale with 38.4PB of usable capacity, realized major cost savings, rescued compute utilization, and ensured continuous uptime with intelligent load balancing and built-in replication.
