The British International School of New York Uses MindMeister and G Suite to Aid with Formative Assessments in Advance of End-of-Year Exams

The British International School of New York, a private school with 54 teachers and 256 students, struggled to get consistent, revealing formative-assessment responses from Middle Years Programme PE students using individual ePortfolios on Google Sites. Head of PE Thomas Hunt adopted MindMeister (used alongside G Suite/Google Sites) to help students visually map their understanding and prepare more effectively for end-of-year exams.

MindMeister maps were embedded into each student’s Google Sites ePortfolio as a clear framework of the year’s key topics; students expanded their maps, compared them to an instructor’s master version, and used the differences to guide revision. By using MindMeister, teachers gained clear, comparable feedback on individual student understanding across the school and provided a consistent launchpad for students to identify and improve areas before their written exams.
