Ekso Bionics: Clinical Studies Prove Life-Changing Devices Help Paraplegics Walk Again

Ekso Bionics, a California company developing wearable exoskeletons to help people with spinal and brain injuries stand and walk, faced the challenge of proving the medical benefits of its devices and moving them from clinic to home use. To coordinate multi-center clinical research, organize extensive documentation, and align hospital research agendas, Ekso Bionics used MindManager’s mapping and collaboration tools to guide design decisions and plan the clinical studies.

Using MindManager, Ekso Bionics mapped the collaborative research process, developed discussion guides, and produced a 60‑page research protocol that could be edited in real time during clinician meetings. The tool helped recruit and secure more than ten rehabilitation centers across Europe for trials (scheduled to begin August 2013), giving Ekso Bionics measurable progress toward validating clinical benefits and building the case for insurer coverage.
