UMD DOTS - Customer Case Study

UMD DOTS (University of Maryland Department of Transportation Services) faced rising call volumes and an outdated, non–mobile-responsive website that made self-service difficult for 50,000+ campus users. To address these issues, Mindgrub was engaged to lead a website redesign focused on UX and information architecture, responsive design, and improved access to transportation information.

Mindgrub conducted discovery research and usability testing, then implemented alerts modals, a news feed, a backend script to migrate bus schedules, Google Maps integration for interactive routes, page redirects, and real-time schedule features. As a result, average time on page fell by over 50% while average session duration rose 130% (users find info faster and engage more), bounce rate dropped 20%, social traffic grew 438%, and organic search traffic increased 10% — demonstrating measurable improvements driven by Mindgrub’s work.
