Light City Baltimore, produced by the Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts, needed a way to help attendees navigate dozens of simultaneous light installations and performances while also providing meaningful sponsor engagement for Kaiser Permanente. Mindgrub was brought in to deliver a mobile‑first engagement strategy and a festival app to guide visitors, surface artists and events, and drive sponsor activations.
Mindgrub built the Light City Baltimore 2017 app with features for city navigation, artist discovery, personalized schedules, geo‑fencing around Kaiser Permanente’s installation to trigger push notifications, plus social media, analytics, and database integration. The app generated roughly 17,000 installs during the event, supported 23 light installations, 50 concerts and 125 illuminated performances, and helped serve nearly half a million visitors, delivering clear sponsor engagement and an improved attendee experience.
