A Mindera Case Study

Preview of the Kingfisher Case Study

Kingfisher launches new apps in just a few months with Mindera

Kingfisher, a major home improvement retailer operating multiple brands across Europe, sought to accelerate the launch and update of its ecommerce applications to improve the customer experience and drive sales. Their legacy system was insufficient, so they partnered with vendor Mindera to develop a new, stable front-end architecture that would enable code reuse and faster development cycles.

Mindera implemented a groundbreaking multi-platform architecture using Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP), creating a shared codebase for both iOS and Android. This solution included shared UI components and a new GraphQL API. The results were transformative, reducing the app development cycle from over a year to just a few months. The first app for the B&Q brand launched with 200,000 lines of shared code, and a subsequent app for TradePoint was live just over three months later, enabling Kingfisher to quickly capitalize on new technologies across its portfolio.
