Case Study: Threshold Fitness and Climbing achieves a safe, community-focused reopening with Mindbody reservations

A Mindbody Case Study

How Threshold Climbing Puts Community Health First with Reservations

Threshold Climbing and Fitness in Oklahoma City is a 20,000 sq. ft. climbing gym (bouldering, fitness and yoga) founded in 2017. When COVID-19 forced temporary closure ahead of their third anniversary, owners John and Sierra Tarkington faced the challenge of reopening safely while protecting members and staff and maintaining community trust.

They developed phased reopening plans while closed—ordering supplies, creating zoned spaces with capacity limits and following CDC/local guidance—and reopened May 1. Threshold implemented temperature checks, mask requirements in common areas and a Mindbody reservation system (initially for members, then expanded to trials and the public), which restored customer confidence and allowed the gym to operate successfully under new safety protocols.
