How Takamichi Hair Turned Missed Calls into a Full Appointment Book

Takamichi Hair is a single-location, New York City salon known for a highly personalized in-chair experience. When stylists were tied up with clients or the front desk was closed, missed calls meant missed appointments—clients rarely left voicemails—forcing staff to choose between interrupting services or losing bookings and revenue.

The salon implemented Messenger[ai], an AI-powered receptionist that texts, books appointments, answers common questions, and forwards only complex queries to staff. The tool kept the salon’s personal touch while freeing stylists: Messenger[ai] generated 22 bookings from unanswered calls and $8,815 in September 2018, added 11 new clients that month, and automated about 95% of conversations (only ~5% needed human help), dramatically reducing interruptions and increasing bookings.
