RSL Queensland, the state’s largest ex‑military service organisation with over 240 sub branches and about 180 staff (supported by ~200 volunteers), faced declining productivity and an aging on‑premises email and archiving system. The legacy solution couldn’t provide message‑level controls, meet PCI DSS requirements for handling credit‑card data, or offer the redundancy and resiliency needed for reliable email operations.
To modernise, RSL moved staff to Microsoft Office 365 and implemented Mimecast Secure Email Gateway, Cloud Archive and Email Continuity, including a full historical email migration and new PCI‑focused policies. The result: message‑level archiving and deletion for compliance, stronger email security, and uninterrupted email access during Office 365 outages—delivering improved governance, cyber resilience and a partner‑like vendor relationship.
