Rock-solid email for consulting engineering giant

BKS Group, a leading South African consulting engineering firm with 18 offices and about 650 email users (as many as 350 mobile at any one time), faced growing problems with spam, viruses and heavy bandwidth/storage use after migrating to Microsoft Exchange. The built‑in security proved inadequate, creating operational strain for a mobile, tech‑savvy workforce and prompting the IT team to seek a stronger email‑hygiene solution.

BKS implemented Mimecast’s Unified Email Management, which transparently cleans and validates mail via triple‑redundant data centers, strips large attachments into downloadable links to save bandwidth, and provides a web portal for reliable remote access. The rollout was quick and unobtrusive; filters now trap thousands of malicious messages, no viruses have passed through since implementation, management time and bandwidth use have fallen, and email availability for mobile staff has improved.
