Pick n Pay Group, one of Africa’s largest retailers, manages roughly 20 million emails a year across thousands of users and needed a more reliable, less complex email infrastructure. Its Cape Town data centre’s legacy IT environment was causing communication outages, high spam volumes and security gaps, and the company required a solution that integrated with Microsoft Exchange 2010 and supported JSE governance and continuity requirements.
Pick n Pay implemented Mimecast’s cloud-based Unified Email Management to simplify email management, improve hygiene and secure continuity. Mimecast was rapidly deployed, now protects thousands of users (4,800+ daily), blocks about 6,750 spam messages per day, prevented security breaches or downtime during upgrades, and enabled a smooth migration to Exchange 2010 while reducing overall infrastructure complexity.
