Mimecast Prescribes Preventive Security For Hospital AZ Groeninge

AZ Groeninge is a regional orthopedic hospital in Belgium with over 1,000 beds that was facing growing email-borne threats—spam, phishing, impersonation and malicious attachments—while migrating its mail systems to the cloud. After finding its incumbent email security inadequate, the hospital ran a proof-of-concept with Mimecast and, following a successful trial, sought a solution that would reduce alerts and operational overhead for its small, seven-person security team.

The hospital deployed Mimecast’s Secure Email Gateway and DMARC Analyzer in January 2022 with a two-day implementation supported by Mimecast and partner Orlox. Because the tools are cloud-native and integrate with Palo Alto Networks and SentinelOne, AZ Groeninge saw a sharp drop in phishing and malicious links/attachments, a reduction in alerts and at least a 20% decrease in routine maintenance—now requiring only a couple of half-hour checks—freeing staff to focus on proactive security.
