Mimecast helps Aruma protect email security on a limited budget

Aruma, one of Australia’s largest not‑for‑profit disability service providers supporting about 5,500 people, faced tight funding, strict regulatory obligations and the challenge of protecting highly sensitive patient and financial data. After moving to Microsoft 365, native email controls and legacy tools proved inadequate—spam and phishing were increasing—so Aruma needed a cost‑effective cybersecurity partner that understood not‑for‑profit constraints and could deliver excellence.

Aruma partnered with Mimecast (deployed since 2017) using Cloud Gateway, Targeted Threat Protection, Internal Email Protect and DMARC Analyzer to centralise filtering, block impersonation, malware and unsafe URLs, improve deliverability and scale without adding staff. In 2023 Mimecast prevented 16,434 malicious incidents (including 200 malicious files, 12,138 unsafe URLs, 2,158 malware detections and 1,928 impersonation attacks) and filtered 93,978 spam emails, significantly improving security while staying within budget.
