Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare Looks to Mimecast for Phishing and Malware remedy

Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare, a seven-hospital system in Memphis with thousands of users across hospitals, agencies and clinics, was facing a rise in phishing and malware links delivered by email. User training and simple mitigations like marking inbound mail "EXTERNAL" weren’t preventing clicks on malicious links, so the organization needed stronger, real-time protection.

Having used Mimecast since 2010, Methodist implemented Mimecast Targeted Threat Protection (including URL Protect, Attachment Protect and Impersonation Protect), which rewrites and scans URLs, blocks suspect sites, converts risky attachments to PDFs and sandboxes files, while providing customizable user notifications. The solution reduced their need to manage anti-spam/anti-malware in-house, improved visibility into message delivery and encryption, and gave IT confidence that email-borne threats were being stopped—enabling plans to expand with Mimecast Secure Messaging.
