Loose lips sink ships: Blue Label looks to Mimecast to keep sensitive information safe

Blue Label Telecoms, a South African distributor of prepaid electronic tokens operating across Africa, India, the Americas and Europe, needed to strengthen email security and meet strict governance and records-retention requirements after listing on the JSE. Facing both external threats (spam, viruses) and internal risks around inadvertent data leaks, the company sought a perimeter-focused solution to prevent sensitive information from leaving the organisation and to ensure compliant message retention.

Blue Label implemented Mimecast’s Unified Email Management (SaaS) with Smart Perimeter data leak prevention and “bottomless” archiving, providing policy-driven scanning of messages and attachments plus ten-year searchable storage. The deployment (initially 250 users, with rapid planned expansion) delivered near-zero spam, no viruses, no extra hardware or specialist resources, and a scalable, cost-effective service that met the company’s confidentiality, compliance and continuity needs.
