Limpopo Provincial Government unifies 11 departments with Mimecast

The Limpopo Provincial Government, a provincial government in South Africa, faced the challenge of consolidating its online presence and amplifying security and email continuity for its 11 departments. As part of an e-government strategy and amid pandemic lockdowns, it needed to build infrastructure for secure remote work while managing operational differences and budget constraints. To address this, they partnered with vendor Mimecast to upgrade its email services and cybersecurity posture.

Mimecast implemented a solution that brought most of the government under one digital roof, providing email backup and archiving capabilities. The solution enhanced protections for employees working both on-premises and remotely on their own devices. Mimecast also improved email security awareness among end users. This significantly relieved pressure on the IT staff, who no longer spend the bulk of their time addressing email alerts and malware issues.
