Construction company builds stronger email foundation by switching to Mimecast

CG Schmidt, a Milwaukee-based commercial construction firm with about 140 email users, needed to upgrade from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010 but was blocked by a bloated on-premises mail store containing six years of email and hundreds of PST files. Its incumbent archiving vendor couldn’t ingest historical mail, offered slow search and poor enterprise support, and left IT searching multiple locations to retrieve messages.

CG Schmidt moved to Mimecast, which ingested all Exchange databases and PSTs and provided unified offsite archiving plus anti-spam/anti-virus and continuity. The rollout was smooth, all historical mail is now consolidated and searchable (retrieval is five times faster), more than 80% of inbound spam is blocked, onsite storage has already fallen (400 GB to 300 GB), and the firm has successfully proceeded with its Exchange 2010 migration while gaining enforceable retention and reliable support.
