Clover Industries, a 100‑year‑old South African branded foods and beverages group with about 2,100 email users across 40 sites, relied on email for critical supply‑chain and customer communications. Rapidly growing mail volumes created capacity, CAPEX and OPEX pressures, while a planned move from on‑premises systems to Office 365 raised compliance and data‑loss concerns that needed mitigation before migration.

Because Clover had Mimecast in place prior to moving to Office 365, it conducted a controlled, site‑by‑site migration and used Mimecast’s cloud archive to recover any lost mail quickly. Mimecast also layered additional security onto Office 365—filtering tens of thousands of unwanted messages daily, sandboxing hundreds of thousands of attachments monthly and blocking malicious links—while centralizing administration, improving mailbox sizes and mobile access, and cutting support costs by eliminating the need for a dedicated email team.
