A Milestone Systems Case Study
Wichita State University, a metropolitan campus with 14,000+ students and multiple sites including a main campus, West Campus, Koch Arena and an off-site aviation research facility, struggled with an aging VCR-based surveillance system that was time-consuming, unreliable and ill-suited to monitor widespread PC labs and public users. Frequent theft, vandalism and misuse in open computer labs, plus the need to cover new buildings and remote sites, created a clear need for a more scalable, easy-to-manage security solution.
WSU deployed Milestone XProtect Enterprise with Axis and IQinVision cameras, supported by partner ISG Technology, allowing centralized and local monitoring, motion-based recording, and simple remote access. The upgrade was fast and low-maintenance, enabled quick evidence capture for campus police, deterred wrongdoing, supported managerial oversight, and scaled easily to new sites (West Campus, Koch Arena, NIAR), improving incident resolution and operational efficiency.
