Warsash Maritime Academy at Southampton Solent University, a world-leading maritime training centre, needed to upgrade its engine-room simulator recording setup used for student stress testing. The existing analogue system produced poor low-light images, could record only one camera to VHS at a time, delivered low-quality audio and offered primitive editing and projection capabilities—limiting research and teaching use.

The academy implemented a Milestone XProtect IP video system with six IQinVision IQeye megapixel cameras (plus an Axis PTZ), PoE networking, dedicated server storage and audio processing, installed by InCam and Smart CCTV. The result is simultaneous, high-resolution 25 fps capture and live monitoring, clearer low-light images, improved audio and editing, network-wide access to recordings, easy scalability and minimal training for staff—enabling better debriefing, research sharing and future expansion.
