Vehicle Delivery Services (VDS) is the leading logistics provider for the sub‑Saharan automotive industry, operating 200 specialized carriers and large bonded storage yards in Gauteng and across South Africa that hold high‑value vehicles from manufacturers such as MBSA and Volvo. The size of the sites (250–3,500 vehicles per depot), the frequent movement of stock and the high replacement value of the vehicles created significant theft and operational risk, so an effective, scalable monitoring solution was imperative.

VDS engaged The Surveillance Factory to deploy an IP‑based surveillance system using Axis network cameras and Milestone XProtect as the backend, leveraging existing IP networks and Power‑over‑Ethernet to reduce installation costs. Cameras (for gates, yards, offices and key rooms) feed a central control room for live monitoring and archived review; the solution provides high‑quality footage for vehicle and suspect identification, acts as a strong visual deterrent, and is easily expandable across VDS’s nationwide depots.
