Topeka Schools USD 501 - Customer Case Study

Topeka School District (USD 501) was facing rising safety incidents and an aging, limited analog security system that covered only a few of its 40 campuses, affecting enrollment and school performance. The district needed a scalable, multi-site solution that delivered high-quality images and centralized monitoring to improve response and campus safety.

Working with ISG Technology, the district deployed Milestone XProtect Corporate VMS with Axis network cameras, S2 access control and a federated, centrally managed architecture with Milestone Mobile. A pilot at Highland Park High School cut incidents significantly; the system now covers 15 schools with about 1,200 cameras, provides remote/mobile access, eliminates blind spots, enables integration with first responders, and delivers cost savings and easier administration — with plans to add roughly 1,000 more cameras and expand to 25 additional schools.
