The Nebraska Medical Center, Nebraska’s largest health-care facility with 624 licensed beds, faced rising costs and safety risks from dozens of patients who required 24/7 one-on-one observation (suicide watch, agitation, or critical conditions). Leadership sought a way to improve patient and staff safety while cutting overhead and asked operations staff to evaluate video monitoring as an alternative to in-room observers.

Working with Sentrixx Security, the hospital deployed 299 IQinVision megapixel day/night cameras with infrared units, 10 servers and 12 monitoring stations running Milestone XProtect Enterprise on a closed, unit-based network. The system lets technicians monitor multiple patients remotely (about 5–6 per active station, 20–30 at a time), drastically reduced one-on-one bedside staffing, streamlined monitoring workflows, delivered thousands in savings within two months and is projected to recoup camera costs in 7–8 months, while improving patient and staff safety.
