The city of Verona steers safer traffic and climate events with data-driven video

Comune di Verona faced growing pressure to comply with European road safety regulations while better managing traffic, restricted zones, and climate-related events. To address these needs, the city turned to Milestone Systems and its XProtect® Corporate and XProtect® Smart Wall video management tools, integrated with more than 100 AXIS network cameras and analytics such as LPR, Smart Maps, and AXIS Object Analytics.

Milestone Systems implemented an open, data-driven video platform that processes video centrally in XProtect while enabling edge analytics on the cameras. The solution helped Verona analyze traffic flows, count and classify vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists, and scooters, and monitor floods on the Adige River; it also supports performance analysis of mobility projects and measures the adoption of new routes, making video a tool for both safety and environmental monitoring.
