The State University of New York at Buffalo partnered with systems integrator Digital Surveillance Solutions to standardize and expand campus security after early Milestone IP deployments in dining, athletics and the medical school. The main challenge was to build a centralized, scalable surveillance platform across a decentralized, multi-campus university—protecting sensitive labs, assets and emergency call points while coordinating multiple IT nodes and stakeholders.

UB implemented Milestone XProtect Corporate to connect nearly 800 Axis cameras campus-wide, integrating Blue Light phones so rules-driven PTZ cameras automatically focus on incidents and dispatch receives instant pop-up video. Central Computing manages the system with DSS providing proactive maintenance; the solution delivered greater scalability, centralized administration, improved situational awareness and faster response, plus standardized backup and retention practices as the system continues to expand.
