School District drives mobile video system deployment as first line of defense

Canyons School District needed to replace an aging, unreliable analog video system on its buses and spent two years evaluating options for a mobile video security upgrade. The district’s Transportation and IT departments looked for an open-platform solution that would improve student safety and avoid vendor lock-in, ultimately choosing Milestone Systems video management software along with Axis cameras and a Sintron mobile server/recorder.

Milestone Systems, implemented by Stone Security, delivered an IP-based mobile video system across the district’s bus fleet. More than 85 buses were upgraded in summer 2017, and the remainder of the 175-bus fleet was completed the following summer, with the project finished a week ahead of schedule despite difficult logistics. The result was a standardized, expandable security platform that improved the district’s first line of defense for student safety.
