Scandlines AG ensures harbor safety with digital video surveillance

Scandlines AG is a major ferry operator serving routes between Denmark, Germany, Sweden and the Baltics, transporting around 20 million passengers, 4 million cars and 900,000 trucks annually. With combined operations in ferry transport, harbor traffic coordination, ticketing, catering and onboard retail, the company faced an outdated, analog surveillance setup that was hard to search, maintain and scale—limiting security, operational oversight and the ability to centralize control across harbors and ships.

Scandlines deployed a network-based digital solution using Milestone XProtect software with Samsung and Sanyo IP cameras, installed by AC Sikring, and rolled it out across multiple terminals. The new system is scalable and future-proof, was implemented quickly, and improved situational awareness for bridge officers, sped evidence collection for police, reduced vandalism and theft, and enables planned expansion to ferries and integrated retail security.
