Oregon school district launches IP-based video surveillance with JVC V.NETWORKS cameras, network video recorders

Canby School District in Oregon, which serves about 5,000 students across a high school, middle school, six elementary schools and district facilities, needed a reliable way to monitor entrances, parking lots, hallways and common areas to deter thefts and investigate incidents while providing controlled remote access for staff and law enforcement without impacting regular network traffic.

The district installed nearly 50 JVC V.Networks IP cameras and four JVC VR-N1600U 16-channel NVRs with embedded Milestone XProtect software on a fiber-backed VLAN. The motion-triggered, centrally managed system offers web and mobile access, role-based permissions and remote law-enforcement viewing—improving incident investigation and deterrence while delivering low total cost of ownership.
