Milestone XProtect video evolves with the University of East Anglia's needs

The University of East Anglia (UEA), a large campus with growing accommodation and facilities, faced a fragmented CCTV estate and an expanding camera count (about 20 new cameras per year) that strained system performance and IT resources. At the same time the university wanted to integrate its Cardax access control system to improve incident response and security management without increasing headcount or locking into proprietary technology.

UEA upgraded from Milestone XProtect Enterprise to XProtect Corporate and Smart Client, added HP storage and federated architecture, and moved management onto the campus fiber backbone. The result is a centralized, scalable surveillance platform (supporting ~175 cameras and large archived storage) with reduced administration via Active Directory, failover protection, interactive maps and multi‑camera tracking for faster incident resolution, mobile/body‑worn camera readiness, and a clear path to integrate access control, analytics and other systems to preserve campus safety and operational efficiency.
