Milestone XProtect® IP video surveillance protects the city of Dublin, Ohio: centralized management and portable cameras help crowd control at major events

The City of Dublin, Ohio, through its Division of Police, needed to replace an aging analog surveillance system that did not provide clear video evidence or scalable coverage for multiple municipal buildings and large public events. With daily populations swelling for events like the PGA Memorial Tournament and the Irish Festival, the city sought a solution to deter theft, improve crowd and parking monitoring, and provide reliable, shareable video for public safety staff.

Dublin deployed an IP video system based on Milestone XProtect Enterprise with Axis wireless/PTZ cameras, HP servers and storage, Cisco networking, and implementation by Northwestern Ohio Security Systems. The open, centralized platform gave remote live-feed URLs, easy client access for 61 police and 17 dispatch users, reduced operating and training costs versus a full analog overhaul, and improved crowd-control and evidence collection; the city is expanding coverage and adding access control and traffic feeds.
