Paul Smith, the UK-based fashion retailer with 45 stores in 35 countries, faced a fragmented, ageing CCTV estate that delivered poor-quality recordings, high failure rates and little central oversight. With a small IT team and a requirement that new systems be future-proof for at least 10 years, the company needed a standards-based, scalable IP video solution that could be managed on the corporate network and deliver immediate loss-prevention value as well as future business intelligence.

Paul Smith deployed Milestone XProtect® Corporate VMS with Axis network cameras as part of a global IT refresh, integrating access control via Microsoft Active Directory and rolling the solution out across all stores. The new system provides centralized remote management and HD evidential video (used successfully to identify a fraudulent transaction), reduces site visits and carbon footprint, and creates a platform for future analytics like heat mapping and facial recognition while supporting a staged rollout of store upgrades.
