Maher Terminals - Customer Case Study

Maher Terminals, a Port Elizabeth, NJ–based operator of a 300-acre container terminal that handles more than 4,000 trucks a day, needed a robust surveillance solution to monitor truck entry/exit flows, loading areas and crane operations. The challenge was to ensure efficient loading/unloading, manage traffic backups, investigate incidents quickly and use equipment that could tolerate constant vibration and future expansion.

Maher deployed JVC VN-C655U PTZ dome cameras and VR-N1600U network video recorders with Milestone XProtect, placing cameras at the lane complex and two per crane for real-time viewing, recording and playback. The system supports multiple simultaneous users (lane complex up to 15, cranes up to 12) and has improved traffic management, sped incident investigations and proven scalable and reliable—Maher plans to add cameras to nine more cranes and additional NVRs.
