Case Study: Lancaster Safety Coalition achieves safer streets and stronger evidence sharing with Milestone Systems

Lancaster citizens transform city safety with open platform video technology

Lancaster Safety Coalition, a nonprofit working with law enforcement in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, faced severe urban crime, a declining downtown, and an aging DVR/analog camera setup that couldn’t scale or reliably deliver evidence. To address these challenges, the coalition turned to Milestone Systems and its XProtect video management software (VMS) to support community safety through video monitoring.

Milestone Systems and integrator App-Techs deployed an open, scalable ecosystem with about 170 4K i-PRO quad-sensor cameras, analytics, and evidence-sharing tools. The result was a major public safety turnaround: annual homicides fell from 10–15 to just two, usable video evidence rose from 55% to over 90%, and LSC supported 911 dispatchers in more than 4,100 incidents in 2023, helping revitalize downtown Lancaster.
