Kruger National Park protects wildlife with Milestone IP video

Kruger National Park, South Africa’s largest wildlife reserve managed by SANParks, faced major security and operational challenges: poaching and vehicles striking animals across a vast, porous territory, high tourist volumes, and internal problems such as cash-handling fraud, staff collusion and ATM scams at remote camps. These issues threatened both conservation efforts and the park’s tourism revenue that funds maintenance and protection.

Camsecure installed Milestone XProtect software with Axis IP cameras across gates and camps, providing central monitoring from Skukuza plus local access, PTZ and license-plate tracking, wireless links and power redundancy. The system enabled precise vehicle and incident tracking, live and recorded evidence for investigations, secure monitoring of ivory storage, and better oversight of staff and customer service—reducing theft and collusion, helping catch syndicates, and improving protection of wildlife.
