Houston multi-service center ensures voting integrity with IP video platform

Metropolitan Multi-Service Center, one of the largest early voting sites in Harris County, Texas, needed better real-time security and situational awareness to protect voters, staff, tenants, and people with disabilities. The center had relied on staff patrols across a seven-acre site, but election-day risks and security requirements made that approach insufficient, leading the City of Houston to look to Milestone Systems and its open-platform IP video management solution, XProtect Expert.

Milestone Systems implemented XProtect Expert with integrated cameras, microphones, analytics, and recording/cybersecurity tools to provide 24/7 monitoring and instant alerts across the property. The result was improved election integrity and daily safety, with the system helping mitigate risks during May and November elections and supporting up to 8,000 voters per year; it also gave staff and law enforcement better remote visibility and reduced dependence on manual security rounds.
