Chilean City Surveillance System Improves Safety, Provides Sense of Security for Local Businesses and Citizens

The Municipality of Santo Domingo, Chile, a coastal community of about 10,000, faced rising crime, dissatisfied citizens and fleeing businesses and needed a citywide "digital eyes" surveillance solution that could cover urban and rural zones, reach remote areas, and improve situational awareness without heavy increases in personnel.

Integrator WEBPCX deployed a hybrid Milestone XProtect system using Axis and Bosch cameras (PTZ, fixed and night vision), RADWIN wireless links, SUPERMICRO servers and Neural Labs license‑plate recognition; today 72 cameras provide real‑time monitoring and playback, Santo Domingo is recognized as the region’s safest community, businesses are returning, and the city is planning further upgrades and new camera installations.
