Chemist Warehouse, Australia’s largest pharmacy retailer with over 5,000 staff and 170 stores, needed a scalable, robust surveillance system to support rapid expansion and meet strict pharmaceutical security regulations. The company could not tolerate camera downtime and determined that an open-platform IP solution was required since analog systems would not support future upgrades or software integration.

Chemist Warehouse deployed 1,500 Axis IP cameras (models including AXIS M3014, P3344-VE, P1344 and P1346) monitored with Milestone XProtect Enterprise, with a further 1,000 cameras planned for new stores. The open-platform solution enabled centralized remote management across hundreds of sites, delivered a sub-1% camera failure rate versus 4–5% for other vendors, and provided a future-proof, support-backed system that improved long-term loss prevention.
